Line Plugging Or Line Stop Fittings

Topaz maintains a large inventory of welding line plugging, or line stop fittings in common sizes and flange ratings for use in both low and high-pressure line plugging applications. Line plugging fittings are full-branch, size on size split tees used to facilitate line plugging operations for rerouting of existing pipelines and equipment tie-ins or isolation. These specialty completion style fittings allow us to operate through temporary valves, which Topaz provides, during the plugging operation. Once the repair or modification within the isolated work section is finished, we secure an o-ring sealed metal plug in the fitting below the temporary valve. Pressure is then bled off above the plug, the valve is removed, and a blind flange is installed on the fitting to complete the job. If necessary, plugging work can also be performed through permanent valves and standard hot tap fittings. 

 

 

PLIDCO Hot-Tapping+Saddles are used in weld hazardous areas. Installation is faster since welding is eliminated. Simply bolt on the mechanical Hot Tapping+Saddle, mount tapping equipment, perform a hydrotest and proceed with the plugging operation. Mechanical Hot Tapping+Saddles, when used for plugging operations, are designed to include a clamping area on each end to prevent movement of the fitting due to hydrostatic end force against the plugging head. If desired, and when conditions are favorable, the PLIDCO Hot Tapping+Saddle may be permanently welded to the pipeline.
