Casing Spacer / Insulator and End Seals

For casing spacer / insulator and end seal needs, Topaz offers a variety of materials, styles, and carrier-casing size differentials. Economy, required method and ease of installation, standard or special carrier-casing configurations, single or multiple carrier lines, and fireproof versus non-fireproof construction are but a few of the considerations which can be addressed.

 

Casing spacers / insulators are used throughout the world to support and electrically insulate a pipeline from a casing or appurtenance through which it must pass. Tough, heavy duty steel casing spacers / insulators are available for large diameter pipe, unusually heavy pipe, long casing, or wherever maximum strength and toughness are required. Lightweight molded polyethylene insulators are supplied for 3/4" through 48" diameter and larger carrier lines. Heavy-duty steel insulators are supplied in the same sizes with insulating glass reinforced plastic runners, or non-insulating steel runners.

 

 

High density injection molded polyethylene casing spacers / insulators provide position insulation, high abrasion resistance and low coefficient of friction. They are available in sizes from ¾" – 48" and larger. Sizes ¾" – 12" are made in two halves, while sizes 14" and larger are made in multiple segments. Special runner heights are available on 4", 6" and 8" insulators to facilitate their use for 2" as well as 4" and larger carrier-casing differentials. Standard models include sizes 4" and larger, with 8" and 12" band widths to provide the optimum strength for every requirement. Specially designed models include a nest of prefabricated casing insulators for use with multiple carrier casing, special centering insulators to improve the endurance of expandable type end seals and insulators with "high rise" runners for large diameter casings.

 

Choose these for the ultimate in strength, toughness and extended life. Models are manufactured with an 8" wide steel band and 2" wide glass reinforced runners or a 12" wide steel band and 2" wide glass reinforced runners. Only 2" wide glass reinforced runners are available on coated insulators.

 

Casing end seals are supplied in a standard pull-on style for all popular carrier-casing combinations, a custom pull-on for unusual combinations or excessive lateral movement, standard wrap-around style for pre-existing crossings where the carrier line is already welded together and a fireproof wrap-around for installations in fire prone areas.

 

The Standard Pull-On is a highly flexible S-shaped seal for easy installation.  It is made of special synthetic rubber for long life.  Band locating ribs are on the outside, with special sealing ribs on the inside under the band to prevent leakage.  Multiple clamps are available on the larger sizes. 

 

The Custom Pull-On is individually designed for unusual carrier-casing combinations or where unusual lateral movement of the carrier is expected.  It is made of 1/8" thick specially compounded synthetic rubber for long life and easy installation.

 

The Wrap-Around is specially designed for use where a carrier line is welded together prior to installation of the casing seal.  To complete the installation it is only necessary to remove the protective plastic from the self-curing rubber and press the exposed surfaces together.

 

The fireproof casing seals are for situations where fire retention may be needed. They are applicable to casings through dikes in tank farms, fire walls, or any fire prone area.
