Water Treatment
To allow for four new 12” lines to be tied into an existing 48” concrete reinforced wastewater line, a municipality in Florida needed a solution. Because the city could not shut down and drain the in service 48” line to enable the tie-ins on a dead line, Topaz was brought in to perform 12” hot taps onstream into the water and solids line.
With experience involving a variety of different types of pipe materials, concrete reinforced pipe was not a problem for Topaz technicians to tap. Topaz provided the four 12” x 48” mechanical tapping tees, and they were shipped to the jobsite in advance of the scheduled tapping date. The general contractor on the project installed the tees and poured concrete anchor blocks to support the tie-in points and prevent movement of the tees on the line. Once the tapping valves were mounted, the Topaz technician completed the hot taps. The job was performed safely, on time and within budget.
