Pulp And Paper
When a pulp and paper plant in Arkansas needed to make tie-ins into an existing white liquor line (sodium hydroxide and sodium sulfide mix) in their kraft process, they called on Topaz to get the job done. Topaz supplied compatible stainless steel tapping tees, hot tap equipment, and a qualified technician to perform the work.
Appropriate personal protective equipment was identified for personnel involved during the different phases of the job, and details of a Job Safety Analysis were shared with all job participants in a pre-job safety meeting.
With a mutually agreed upon work procedure in place, work permits were issued, and the tie-ins were completed without incident. Extensive measures were taken to assure containment of product when de-pressuring and removing the tapping equipment after each tap. There was no exposure of personnel to the alkaline liquor or contamination of the work space.
Topaz takes safety and environmental responsibility seriously. We refuse involvement in unsafe or unethical work practices which potentially jeopardize personnel, property or the environment.
