Distribution Pipelines

A pipeline operator near Denver, CO contacted Topaz when three tie-ins were needed near a meter station in a natural gas distribution system. No working block valves existed close by within the system to isolate the jobsite and weld in tees. Additionally, shutting down the lines would have required near impossible coordination with numerous downstream industrial customers with varying peak load gas requirements and intervals.

Topaz provided a work-around solution to the problem by performing three size on size 10" ANSI 300# hot taps on the natural gas line, while it remained in service. The job prevented the operator from having to temporarily shut down the lines and halt delivery downstream.
